What is Evangelion?

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a popular Japanese anime created by Gainax. A short overview of the is that it's about a boy named Shinji Ikari and his battle against giant monsters called angels. Shinji as well as some of his friends pilot giant mecha Evangelions to combat these angels. It's a very mature and thought provoking show, doing things not typically done like having a realistic, mostly mentally broken cast, and tackles themes relating to humans like our bonds with each other, our importance, and the human psyche/mind.

Evangelion is a very popular series in the anime franchise as a whole, and has gained a lot of praise, criticism, and controversy due to it's deep analysis, violent scenes, and mature themes. Due to this popularity, an large amount of merchandise have been made from it, with the majority of merchandise being from that of the Rebuild portion of Evangelion, which may/may not be to the liking of some fans of the franchise, especially those who enjoyed Evangelion for it's original TV show.

There is also a wide selection of figures too. For the original TV show, there are a few old revoltech figures with clearly stylised proportions, but the snap fit model kits section has got better selection. There are the old LM-HG Evas made by Bandai which feature great propotions and are quite decent for their age, but are still clearly dated and require bits of paint for great display. If you want quality over proportional accuracy, and don't mind shelling the cash though Kotobukiya have made TV Versions for some of the Evas, and they are some really excellent kits for any builder to buy.

As for Rebuild figures, the amount of variety of increases by a large margin. There are numerous highly articulate Revoltech figures and even multiple figures of the same Eva corresponding to the line and movie.  but do have the typical Revoltech problems. There are Robot Damashiis for the Rebuild Evas, some being P-Bandai, but all of them amazing. The Robot Damashii Evas are both sturdy and articulate, and even goes to have some of the best balance in poseable figure history, which is definitely a nice title to hold. This is not including the kits that had been made by both Bandai and Kotobukiya, however in terms of quality, Kotobukiya's Eva kits have got Bandai trumped.

This isn't even including the amount of both figures and statues of the characters, not even the amount of overall merchandise like cups, bags, and many more, Evangelion is a definite staple in the history of anime, and it's variety in figures and merchandise show. If you want an Evangelion figure, you've got plenty to choose from. You got both snap fit model kits, figures, and statues of numerous different offerings for Evangelion figures, and if you want an Evangelion, you're covered by a lot of toy companies offering a lot of figures.
